PHOTOS: Family, Fans Hold Vigil for Hospitalized Rapper, DMX
Family members and fans of rapper, Earl Simmons, better known by his stage name DMX (Dark Man X), on Tuesday held a prayer vigil outside the New York hospital where he is hospitalized and in critical condition.
He was rushed to hospital after having a heart attack. Reports indicate that his condition remains fragile and he is on life support.
It was an emotional scene as fans holding their fists to the sky chanted “DMX”.
His fiance and ex-wife were all in tears as a prayer was read for the 50-year-old rapper.
According to reports, a motorcycle procession later paraded down the street in front of the facility as DMX hits including “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem” rang out.
Fans present at the vigil were full of praises for the Artist and said they were keeping him and his entire family in their prayers.
His current heath challenges may not be unconnected with his long addiction to drugs. In 2019, he cancelled several shows and checked himself into a rehabilitation facility, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
He soared into prominence in the late 90s following the release of multiple hit songs including “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” and “Party Up.”
He later quit drugs, gave his life to Christ, eventually becoming a transitional deacon in the Christian Church.
