Eko Hot Blog reports that operatives of the Orile Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist, Ahmed Ololade aka Small Mercy, 27.
The command made the disclosure in a terse statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday.
It said police officers recovered various arms and ammunition and other dangerous weapons from the suspect.
The police added investigation into the Ololade was ongoing.
“27-year-old suspected cultist, Ahmed Ololade aka Small Mercy, has been arrested by officers of Orile Division in possession of the following items: 1 locally made pistol, 2 single barrel shotguns, 6 live cartridges, 7 live 7.65mm ammunition, 1 live 9mm ammunition, two axes, and charms. Investigation is ongoing,” the post reads.
The arrest came a few days after police officers of Ketu Division on stop and search duty arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Solomon Ogunnike, with three locally made pistols.
“While on stop and search duty at Y Junction, Ketu on November 27, 2023, officers of Ketu Division found in possession of one Solomon Ogunnike ‘m’ aged 24 three locally made single barrel pistols wrapped in a brown cloth,” the police said.
“The suspect has been arrested and investigation is ongoing.”
