Eko Hot Blog reports that the first transshipment vessel has berthed at the Lekki seaport, Lagos State.
The port announced the development in a statement late Thursday evening.
According to the port’s management, the vessel, CMA CGM RIMBAUD, sailed from the Far East and berthed in Lagos around 1pm on Thursday.
“The Lady, CMA CGM RIMBAUD has an LOA of 270m, a breadth of 42.8m and 6,900 TEUs capacity,” the statement reads in part.
The port also revealed that the transshipment volume on the vessel is 411 TEUs and the eventual destination will be Cotonou on July 6, 2023.
“Lekki Port is proud to actualize the objective of the Federal Ministry Of Transport, Nigeria and the Nigerian Ports Authority to bring transshipment volumes to Nigeria and this is the first of many more transshipment vessels to berth at Lekki Port,” the Lekki seaport management added.
