Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Waste Management Authority has intensified its clampdown on cart pushers across the Lagos metropolis.
In a social media post on Saturday, LAWMA said it carried out enforcement action against cart pushing across different locations in the state.
The aggressive action followed a marching order by the Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, who has made it clear that cart pushers are barred from Lagos roads.
The waste management agency said cart pushing is a menace that results in indiscriminate dumping of refuse in inappropriate locations.
LAMWA also warned that people patronazing cart pushers are liable to prosecution.
“LAWMA’s enforcement against cart pushing across different locations in the state today [Saturday],” the agency disclosed.
“Cart pushing is a menace, resulting in indiscriminate dumping of waste at unauthorised locations, such as road medians, canals and uncompleted buildings.
“Let’s shun cart pushers, as those caught patronising them also run the risk of arrest and prosecution.”
