PHOTOS: Meet The Father And Son Who Hid In A Forest For 41 Years Unaware The War Was Over

During the Vietnam War In 1972, Ho Van Thanh was hoping for the terrors of the war not to reach his village but unfortunately, it did, his wife and two children were killed during the attack, so he ran with his youngest son Ho Van Lang into the deep forest to get away from it.
When in the forest they had to deal with how the environmental change affected their bodies but quickly adapted to it. Ho Van Lang’s father built a hut above the jungle’s floor to keep away from wild animals prowling on it, they learned how to fish, build a fire and also keep themselves healthy for so long.
Ho Van Thanh planned to stay in the forest for some months, but didn’t know how much time had passed, he said that he and his son had fresh food, clean air, and clear crystal waters which they enjoyed in the forest.

Ho Van Thanh son grew up practically wild, and also as an asexual not even knowing what a woman was, they were times when he wanted to make contact with the outside world, but his father forbade him, and he could only see the wonders of the world through his father’s tales.
But one of Ho Van Thanh’s older son survived, and had been looking for him for over 30 years, due to deforestation they went deeper into the forest which made it harder to find them, as they went deeper they left some clues, which enabled them to be tracked.
Then after 41 years of survival in the forests of Vietnam, they were found it was only Ho Van Lang that accepted civilization , but his father still loved his old life in the forest.
Ho Van Lang now speaks good English and adapted to the modern world.
