- Police officers have sealed off the Gani Fawehinmi Park over a planned rally by Yoruba Nation agitators in Lagos State.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Friday took over Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, Lagos over a planned Yoruba Nation by the Yoruba Appraisal Forum.
However, EKO HOT BLOG reports that no Yoruba Nation agitator was seen at the venue as of 12pm as vehicular movement and business activities continue uninterrupted along the Ojota axis.
The Police Command had in a statement on Thursday evening stated that intelligence revealed that the group was mobilising for a mega rally in the state on Friday despite the arrest of some agitators at the July 3 rally which was held at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota.
The Command, in a statement titled, ‘Re: Yoruba Appraisal Forum’s Rally: Police Ban Rally, Warn Organizers To Steer Clear Of Lagos’, enjoined parents to warn their children against holding the rally in the state.
The statement was issued by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.

“The Police and other security agencies in the state have been on red alert to prevent any unlawful rally and lawlessness in any part of the state, while parents and guardians are urged to warn their children and wards not to involve themselves in any such activity which may portend danger to the state.
“The ugly incident recorded at the Oodua Republic Rally of 3rd July 2021, at the same area of Ojota, Lagos State, is still fresh in our memories, let alone the massive destruction of lives and properties experienced during the October 2020 End SARS violent protest in Lagos State,” the police spokesperson had stated.
EKO HOT BLOG recalls that the Yoruba Nation agitators held a rally at the Gani Fawehinmi Park on July 3, 2021, despite repeated warnings by the Lagos State Police Command.
One life was lost during the rally while scores of others were arrested and detained by the Command.
