President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II, to his Lagos residence on Sunday.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the visit was part of the traditional ruler’s New Year homage to the President.

Although details of their discussion were not disclosed, presidential media aide Dada Olusegun shared pictures of the meeting, showing both leaders engaged in a lively conversation. Captioning the photos, he wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona Ogbagba II, at his residence in Lagos today.”

This visit follows Tinubu’s earlier remarks in May 2024, where he referred to Oba Adetona as a trusted friend, emphasizing the strong bond of confidence and friendship they share.

Notably, during the Awujale’s 90th birthday celebration at the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, President Tinubu conferred the Grand Commander of the Order of Nigeria (GCON)—the nation’s second-highest honor—on the monarch.
