Eko Hot Blog reports that President-elect Bola Tinubu has cast his vote in the ongoing Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Lagos State.
He voted at his polling station on Kadiri Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
“I just joined other Nigerians in exercising my civic duty in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections. I encourage you all to go out and vote peacefully,” he wrote on Twitter.
Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25 presidential election, lost his stronghold, Lagos, in that election, although he won the overall vote total to return elected president.
His loss in Lagos raised the stakes for the ongoing Lagos governorship election as Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu’s protégé, seeks reelection.
Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu has also voted at his polling unit, PU06, Eiyekole, Adeniji Adele, Lagos.
He is hoping to fend off the challenge of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, whose party won Lagos in the presidential poll.
