PHOTOS: Tunji Alausa Pays Working Visit To UCH, Tours Healthcare Facilities

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, visited the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, on a familiarisation visit.

During the visit, he commended the hospital’s management under the leadership of Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo.

Dr. Alausa, accompanied by a delegation, assessed the hospital’s facilities and engaged in discussions with the hospital’s leadership on ways to improve healthcare delivery.

“The minister’s visit aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure across the country,” a statement issued by UCH said.

Highlighting the importance of improvement in line with the 4-point agenda of Coordinating Minister of Health Prof. Mohammad Ali Pate. Dr. Alausa emphasized the need to enhance governance, upgrade the healthcare value chain, and ensure health security for all Nigerians.

He urged increased investment in modern equipment.

After touring various Hospital ongoing facilities, including the Emergency Department extension, House Officers Resident (HOR III), Cardiac Centre, Linac Bunker, Sickle cell Centre, The Sewage System, Hospice and Palliative Care, e.t.c. and some facilities donated by generous Nigerians, the health minister expressed gratitude on behalf of the hospital’s management, thanking the benefctors for their magnanimity, generosity, and patriotism in supporting the healthcare system.

 

The Hospital’s Management showcased various ongoing projects within the hospital and provided insights into the challenges faced by the projects. The discussions revolved around increasing funding, upgrading technology, and addressing the human resource needs of the Hospital.

Expressing his appreciation, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Otegbayo stated that, “We are honoured to have Dr. Tunji Alausa visit UCH. His commitment to improving healthcare aligns with our goals, and we are optimistic that his visit will lead to positive changes in the healthcare landscape.”
