A viral image purportedly showing Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, paying homage to Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has been debunked as fake.
The image, widely circulated on WhatsApp, depicts Obi standing beside Oluomo, who is dressed in a white Agbada.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that accompanied by a caption allegedly shared by Goldmynetv, the post claimed Obi expressed readiness to work with Oluomo, recently sworn in by a faction as the president of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) on November 11.
However, investigations by TheCable revealed that the image was manipulated. A reverse image search confirmed that Oluomo’s attire in the picture matched the one he wore on the day he assumed office.
Additionally, no credible media outlets reported the event, and a review of Goldmynetv’s Instagram page showed no evidence of the purported post.
Further analysis using FotoForensic, a digital photo forensic tool, revealed inconsistencies in the image, including variations in the details of Obi’s clothing and signs of tampering. The captioned Instagram post also displayed inconsistent colors, further affirming the image’s inauthenticity.
This debunking aligns with ongoing concerns about the spread of misinformation on social media, particularly through doctored images and false narratives.
