5 Places To Avoid This Festive Season

The festive season is synonymous with joy and celebration, but it also comes with heightened risks, especially when visiting certain places.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that as the holidays approach, prioritizing safety becomes essential. Below are five places to avoid during the festive season and the reasons why.

1. Highways with a History of Banditry

Highways notorious for banditry and kidnappings become even more dangerous during festive periods due to increased travel. Criminals target travelers for robbery or ransom, leading to higher risks of hijackings and armed attacks. Opt for safer routes or trusted transport services with security arrangements.

2. Crowded Markets

Festive markets are bustling with shoppers but are also hotspots for pickpockets, scammers, and overcrowding-related dangers like stampedes or fires. Large crowds make theft and emergencies more likely. To stay safe, consider shopping early or using online stores for convenience.

3. Nightclubs and Unsafe Late-Night Spots

Nightclubs and bars in poorly lit or unsafe neighborhoods pose risks such as armed robbery, gang violence, and kidnappings. These venues often lack proper security and can turn hazardous quickly. Opt for well-secured establishments and avoid staying out too late.

4. Remote Villages or Unsafe Communities

Some rural areas experience heightened insecurity due to banditry, terrorism, or communal clashes, especially during festive periods when visitors are targeted. Such locations often lack adequate security or emergency services. If travel to these areas is unavoidable, notify local authorities or travel with organized escorts.

5. Overcrowded Public Transport Hubs

Bus parks, train stations, and airports become overcrowded during the festive rush, making them prime targets for pickpockets, scammers, and even terrorists. Poor crowd management can also lead to accidents or panic situations. To minimize risks, travel during off-peak hours and remain vigilant.
