Possible Power Outages in Abuja: Key Points
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has informed residents in parts of Abuja about planned maintenance work that may result in temporary power outages. The affected areas include Gwagwalada, Wuye, Life Camp, and several other locations.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs, TCN explained that its engineers would carry out maintenance at two transmission substations over the weekend. The maintenance aims to improve the performance of critical power infrastructure.
According to the statement, power supply in Gwagwalada and surrounding areas will be interrupted for four hours during maintenance. The exercise is scheduled between Saturday and Sunday.
Additionally, on Sunday, December 29, 2024, maintenance will be conducted on a 60MVA transformer at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation from 9 am to 10 pm. This work will cause interruptions in Wuye, the EFCC office, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.
TCN apologized for any inconvenience caused and emphasized that the maintenance is necessary to ensure the power equipment operates efficiently.
