Police Address Concerns Over Viral Video Featuring Group of Northern Labourers in Ibeju-Lekki
- The young men gathered in front of the Dano Company premises in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command has responded to a viral video depicting a group of young men gathered in front of the Dano Company premises in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
Initial concerns about the group’s intentions were raised after it was reported that they had recently arrived from Katsina State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the police upon receiving the information on May 14, 2025, the Command immediately dispatched officers to the location to investigate the situation. Preliminary findings revealed that the 89 young men had been recruited as laborers for legitimate employment at the Dangote Refinery in Lekki.

A contractor associated with the refinery appeared before the police and confirmed that he had personally recruited the laborers from Katsina.
The refinery’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) corroborated the statement, stating that the laborers had been verified and cleared for entry into the facility and would be residing on-site.
To ensure public safety, the individuals were thoroughly searched, and no incriminating items were discovered. Each person also provided their National Identification Numbers (NINs), which were verified accordingly.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh urges the public to refrain from disseminating unverified content that could create unnecessary tension or panic.
