BREAKING: Police Arraign Lawmaker Ikwechegh Over Bolt Driver Assault Scandal

The Nigerian Police have arraigned House of Representatives member Alex Ikwechegh before an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court in Kuje, following allegations of assault on a Bolt driver.

Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced the development on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, noting that further details on the proceedings would be shared shortly.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident in question stems from an altercation between Ikwechegh, who represents the Aba North and South Federal Constituency, and the driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, in the Maitama area of Abuja.

The confrontation reportedly began when Abuwatseya requested Ikwechegh to approach his vehicle to receive a delivery.

This request allegedly led to the lawmaker physically and verbally assaulting the driver, claiming his political position would protect him from consequences.

A widely circulated video of the encounter shows Ikwechegh slapping the driver, threatening him, and allegedly boasting that he could make the driver “disappear” without repercussion.

The video further reveals that Ikwechegh reportedly damaged the driver’s phone, tore his clothes, and refused to compensate him for the service, threatening additional harm.

Police Arraign Ikwechegh

Adejobi emphasized that the Nigerian Police are committed to upholding the rule of law, noting, “POLICE PROSECUTES HON ALEXANDER IKWEGH FOR ASSAULT…Details soon.”
