Eko Hot Blog reports that the Nigeria Police Force has arraigned a 29-year-old man, David Ochasi, before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing a tricycle worth N1 million in the Bariga area of the state.
The defendant was arraigned on two counts of theft on Wednesday.
He was accused of stealing a yellow tricycle with registration number MD6M14PAXM4F04425 and engine number AK4FM4304886 belonging to one Ayodele Osesan who lived in the same area as the suspect.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Magaji Haruna, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on January 25, 2022, at Odunsanya Street, Bariga.
“That you, David Ochasi, and others now at large on the 25th day of January 2022, at Odunsanya Street, Bariga, in the Yaba Magisterial District did steal one TVS King tricycle with registration number MD6M14PAXM4F04425 and engine number AK4FM4304886, yellow in colour and worth N1 million, property of one Ayodele Osesan and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015,” the charge reads in part.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, O.Y Adefope, admitted him bail to the sum of N100,000 only with one responsible surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till February 2, 2023, for trial.
