Delta state police have caught a fifteen-year-old mother after dumping her baby girl in a bush in the Kokori community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the young mother dumped the new baby in a bush close to the town for reasons bordering on no financial capacity to take care of the child.
It was reported that after dumping the baby in the bush, the cry of the baby soon attracted residents who took the baby to the community’s vigilante for proper identification.

In turn, the vigilante informed the police in the Isiokolo division, as officers of both securities unify to launch a search for the baby’s mother.
The girl was eventually traced and arrested, where she confessed that she had no help from anyone since she gave birth to the child.
She said,” I left her there for people to see and take care of her. If not, I don’t have money to take care of the child.”
The Chairman of Ethiope-East Local Government Council, Hon. (Mrs.) Faith Majemite, in reaction to the incident, ordered the health centre in the Kokori community to take care of the newborn baby, promising to take responsibility for all the bills.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the report saying,” The girl is 15. She dumped the baby in a plantain plantation. Thank God the Local Government Council Chairman stepped in and ordered that the girl and the baby be treated in the hospital. We have reunited the girl and the baby.”
