Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers In Lagos (Photos)

  • Police operatives have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Lagos.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that two suspected kidnappers, Desmond Ikechukwu Okafor (21) and Egwuonwu Gift Iyke (34) have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.

The arrest of the suspected kidnappers was disclosed via a statement by the Lagos State Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, on Saturday.

The police spokesperson noted that the suspects conspired and abducted 8-year-old Daniel Chukwudi on July 11, 2021.

Ajisebutu added that the crime was executed by the victim’s neighbour, Okorafor, who used his access to the family to lure the victim from his parents’ home at Aboru in Ipaja, Lagos.

It was further gathered that Okoroafor took the victim to Ajangbadi area of Lagos where he was kept for six days before a successful rescue operation.

The police spokesperson disclosed that one day after the act, the suspects reached out to the parents of Chukwudi and demanded N2.5million as ransom as they threatened to kill the victim.

According to Ajisebutu, the Lagos State Intelligence Bureau opened an investigation and launched a manhunt which led to the arrest of the suspected kidnappers in their hideouts.

The police spokesperson further noted that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the suspects be charged to court.
