Police Arrest Wanted Fake Soldier In Lagos

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos state police command says it has arrested a fake soldier who was declared wanted by the military.

Speaking with NAN on Sunday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the state police spokesperson, said the suspect was arrested on Saturday at about 3.00 pm in Ijegun area of Lagos during a routine visibility patrol by the Ijegun police division.

He said the patrol team arrested the man in full military uniform allegedly used for impersonation.

“We immediately sent for the military Guard Commander, guiding the pipeline in Ijeododo, to come and identify the suspect,“ NAN quoted him as saying.

“The military confirmed that he was a fake soldier. On interrogation, the suspect confirmed to the crime of impersonation.

“The military confirmed that he has been on its wanted list. The suspect will be charged to court on completion of investigation.”

In February, the Lagos police command had also arrested two fake soldiers identified as Jonathan Yahaya and Mohammed Umar.

One of the suspects was apprehended while wearing camouflage trousers and black combat boots, while the other was caught wearing a Nigerian Army uniform.
