Police Arrests Suspected Bandits, Kidnappers In Katsina

  • The Katsina State Police Command on Friday, paraded a student of one of the tertiary institutions in the state for allegedly kidnapping his 5-year-old cousin and demanding a N5million naira ransom.

This was disclosed by the spokesman for Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah while parading the suspects before pressmen on Friday, expressed that the victim’s father declined to pay the demanded ransom for his son to be released by the bandits, EkohotBlog reports.

Meanwhile, during the course of the investigation, the police were able to track the suspect who confessed to having indulged in the act along with a friend.

Also, the Police paraded Isiyaku Haruna 21, a suspected bandit, who confessed to having killed two persons during an attack on Dayi village in Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State.
However, the suspect said he cannot remember the names of the two victims he murdered during the raid on the community.

The suspect also claimed that he used to work with telecommunications service providers before he was introduced to banditry 3 years ago.

Arrested along with him for banditry related offense was Sadiq Abubakar 18, who in August 2021, called the duo of Haruna,, and Abdulmalik Muhammad, both residents of Kofar Guga quarters, Katsina, at different intervals, threatening them to pay a certain amount of money through an account number he availed them or face the risk of being kidnapped.

SP Gambo said all the suspects will be charged to court to answer for their crimes in due course.
