Police Beef Up Security In Bayelsa Banks Over New Naira Saga

With threats on commercial banks regarding the new naira situation in the country, the police in Bayelsa State have beefed up security in banks.

The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ben Okolo has instructed every division within the state to monitor banks and ATM points to ward off any attempt at vandalizing.

He warned any miscreant to desist from any illegal activity on the ATM stands or in the banks.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a bid to prevent the destruction of bank properties in Bayelsa State due to the scarcity of new Naira notes, the Bayelsa State Police Command has stepped up security at banks and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) points in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ben Nebolisa Okolo, has instructed all Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and other police personnel to closely monitor banks and ATM points to ensure that peace is maintained.
According to a statement issued by the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, the Command understands the difficulties that the public is facing and is hopeful that the measures introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will help improve the circulation of currency in the near future.

The statement warned against any unlawful assembly that may result in violence, saying that the police would not tolerate any such actions. The Command also appealed to the public to remain calm and carry out their lawful activities as the police are dedicated to ensuring public safety and security.
The police have reassured the public that they are fully prepared to guarantee the safety of all individuals and properties in Bayelsa state.
