Police Dismantle Illegal Checkpoints, Arrest FRSC, LASTMA Officers In Lagos

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lagos State Police Command has disbanded several illegal checkpoints by some security operatives in the state, saying it has arrested one policeman, three officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), three Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) officers and 23 civilians.

It was gathered that the law enforcement officials were nabbed at the illegal checkpoints by the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa’s special task force.

Confirming the arrest, Lagos State Police Public Relations Spokesperson, Ben Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police said the raid was carried out in the Iganmu and Apapa axis of Lagos State.

While stating that, 18 of them were arrested last week Friday and Saturday in the Mile 2 area of the state.

Hundeyin further explained that due to reports of incessant extortion of motorists by thugs and recalcitrant law enforcement, the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa had set up the task force response to reports of these officers.
