Ekohotblog reports that the Oyo State Police Command has dragged a 38-year-old man, Olashile Oyenuga, before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing nappies valued at N2.5m.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Opeyemi Olagunju, expressed that the accussed committed the offence sometime in August 2021 at the Bayal Shopping Complex, in the Dugbe area of Ibadan.
He argued that the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap. 38, Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

He further argued that the offence is contrary to Section 380 and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap. 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
The Police prosecutor disclosed that the accused also collected money from different traders, including N108,000 from one Olanrewaju Fatimah; N335,400 from one Oke Abiodun; and N322,000 from one Abosede Oyerinde, at the Ogunpa Market, totalling N765,400 with a promise to supply them nappies.
However, the accused person, who was arraigned on eight counts, was also charged with fraud to the tune of N765,400.
When the count charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.
While ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Olaide Hamzat, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties each in like sum, adding that the two sureties must have landed property.
He, however, adjourned the case till December 14, 2021.
