The Nigerian Police Force, on Friday, failed to produce the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore and four others who were arrested in connection with the #CrossoverWithProtest procession for their bail application ruling.
Eko Hot Blog had reported that a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja had fixed January 8 for the defendants hearing and ordered that they be remanded at the Force CIID facility in Area 10, following complaints by Sowore that they were denied food and medical attention at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

However, while briefing journalists after the court proceedings, counsel to the defendants, Marshal Abubakar, said the Police prosecutor claim to have handed the case file to a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for further prosecution.
According to Abubakar, the DIG, when summoned to produce the defendants, also claimed to have handed the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution on the instruction of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).
Sowore and four others are arraigned for alleged criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly and attempting to invite others.
