EKOHOTBLOG reports that many protesters, in the early hours of Friday, stormed the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja, the nation’s capital, demanding the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The protest coincided with Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary on Friday, October 1, 2021.
The protesters, who made bonfires on the ever-busy highway, had just converged at the venue to begin their demonstration when operatives of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) stormed the area and dispersed the demonstrators.
It was further gathered that the heavily armed policemen fired tear gas canisters and gave the protesters wielding large banners a hot chase on Friday.
However, EKOHOTBLOG cannot ascertain if any arrest had been made as of the time of filing this report.
