Police: How Suswam Was Killed

Terkula Suswam, an elder brother of Sen. Gabriel Suswam, was killed by gunmen at Anyiin on Tuesday evening, according to the Benue police command.

DCP Catherine Anene, the command’s spokesperson, stated this in a statement released on Wednesday in Makurdi.

“At around 1930 hours, information was received that while Dr. Terkura Suswam and his assistant, Mr. Solomon, sat opposite his house at Elohim Plaza, Anyiin, to supervise repairs at the plaza, yet-to-be-identified gunmen attacked and shot him and his aide.

“A team of officers on patrol in the area rushed to the scene and transported the victims to NKST Anyiin Hospital, where they were later confirmed dead,” said the release.

“Their remains were brought to the hospital to be autopsied.

“While commiserating with the deceased’s family and friends, the police chief has directed a quiet inquiry to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are arrested and justice is served.

According to the statement, “Anyiin town has been cordoned off by additional police teams deployed to assist the Division in nipping this crime in the bud.”

Mr. Suswam was an industrialist, the owner of Ashiwaves, a Benue radio station, a PDP chieftain, and the holder of a traditional title.
