Ekohotblog reports that the Kogi State Police Command, four policemen were arrested and jailed after being videotaped accepting bribes and beating passengers.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, William Aya, the police officers in the video were assigned to Adogo Division and were on patrol along the Adogo-Okene route on the day of the incident.
A commuter was allegedly extorted N25,000 by the personnel, while another was physically attacked by one of the men in uniform.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban, psc (+), fdc, while condemning the incident, noted that the Police officers have been identified and detained at the State Criminal Investigations Department,” the statement read.

The officers, according to the statement, are ASP Isah Barnabas, Inspector Ifediegwu Godwin, Sgt Emmanuel Ochima and CPL Umameh Mathias who physically assaulted one of the commuters.
Mr Aya stated that ASP Isah has been issued an official enquiry, while the three other junior officers are facing orderly room trial, which is police internal disciplinary procedure.
The police commissioner further stated that the Command is making every effort to reach the victims. He advised the victims to call the Command at 08107899269.

The development followed an order for investigation from the inspector general of police Usman Baba.
