Asabi hailed the donation as a good boost to the security of lives and properties within the zone EKO HOT BLOG reports.
He expressed gratitude to Boing Luxury Estates for their collaboration with security agencies, which he said supports the police’s dedication to crime fighting and the positive results achieved so far.
He said, “The two States in the zone are making substantial efforts, and these drones will be crucial in ensuring we maintain a strong grip on security, providing better protection for residents.”
The drones were presented by Mr. Ory Martins Akinseloyin, Managing Director of Boing Luxury Estates, as part of the firm’s 10th anniversary celebration. Akinseloyin stressed the importance of supporting the government in combating insecurity.
He assured that additional drones would be donated after six months if the current ones were used effectively. Akinseloyin also expressed concern over the loss of security personnel due to ambushes, which could be prevented with the use of security drones to identify criminal hideouts.
“This is part of our corporate social responsibility. The security situation in the country is alarming, and it’s essential for everyone to contribute in supporting our security agencies,” Akinseloyin said.
He emphasised the role of technology and ICT in modern policing, noting that relying solely on manpower and traditional firearms is no longer sufficient. “In today’s world, policing has evolved beyond the use of manpower and AK-47 rifles. We need to adopt modern technology to stay ahead.”
Akinseloyin further stated that the firm would provide training for police and NSCDC personnel on the effective use of the drones.
“We’re not just donating drones; we’re offering much more. I encourage the police and NSCDC in Ekiti and Ondo States to nominate two officers with basic ICT knowledge for training. In just two days, they will be equipped to operate these drones, capture and interpret images, and handle other necessary tasks,” he added.
