In a concerted effort to combat kidnapping, armed robbery, and other forms of crime across Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force has intensified its strategies, leading to the successful rescue of 13 kidnapped victims and the arrest of several armed robbery suspects over the past week.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that on December 27, 2024, the Kwara State Police Command responded to a distress call regarding the abduction of 13 individuals in the Idofin-Igbana area.
Despite encountering resistance from the kidnappers, the police operatives managed to overpower them, resulting in the rescue of all 13 victims.
The kidnappers fled the scene with various injuries.
In another successful operation on December 28, 2024, the Lagos State Police Command responded to a report of a public disturbance at the Pinnacle Depot in Lekki.
Two individuals, identified as Lawan Mustapha and Aina Daniel, were apprehended during the intervention. Upon conducting a thorough search, the police operatives recovered one double-barrel rifle, 90 live cartridges, and five model rifles.
The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue, and they will be prosecuted accordingly.
On the same day, at around 12:45 PM, the Lagos State Police Command arrested three suspected armed robbers in GRA Ikeja.
A search of the suspects resulted in the recovery of one locally made pistol, four live cartridges, and two cutlasses. The apprehended individuals are also in custody and will face prosecution once the investigations have concluded.
