In a shocking act of betrayal, a 24-year-old man named Muonaenye Victor has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly orchestrating the kidnapping of his friend and collecting a ransom of N5.3 million.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident took place in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, police operatives from the Uli Divisional Headquarters apprehended Victor on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Reports indicate that Victor, working with a criminal gang, planned the abduction and demanded the ransom in dollars, equivalent to N5.3 million, before eventually releasing the victim.
The police statement revealed that Victor confessed to masterminding the plot. He allegedly lured his friend by pretending they were going to meet another friend, and to deflect suspicion, he even staged his own kidnapping during the incident.
“The suspect during interrogation confessed to having planned the kidnapping plot by luring his friend to escort him to see another friend,” Ikenga stated.
“Victor and his criminal gang allegedly abducted their friend and to avoid suspicion, pretended to have been kidnapped by his criminal gang.” Victor is currently cooperating with the police, providing crucial information to help apprehend his accomplices.
