Operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a suspected serial car snatcher identified as Abdullahi Mohammed, who specialised in stealing vehicles in the state.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Mohammad Ahmed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, September 22, said Mohammed, 35, was arrested in the act of dismantling the key system of a Toyota Hilux.
“On the 20/09/2020 at about 0815hrs a Team of Policemen drafted to ECWA Gospel Church Rafin Zurfi attached to ‘E’ Division Bauchi arrested one Abdullahi Mohammed ‘m’ aged 35yrs of Jeka da Fari Gombe in the act dismantling the key system of Toyota Hilux white in color with Registration No. BA-344-A01 attached to Government House Bauchi,” the statement reads.
“He was arrested in possession of three master keys and two Hilux keys. When interrogated the suspect confessed to have committed the crime,”
“Moreover, he revealed that he is a professional snatcher and confessed to have snatched about eight motor-vehicle four in Gombe two Civic/two Toyota and four in Kaduna two Toyota/two civic and sold them in Niger Republic. Investigation is in progress after which suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.”
