Police Nab Two Cultists in Ogun Crackdown
Ogun State Police Command has detained Abiodun Salami and Destiny Adeola on suspicions of cult involvement in Ijoko, Sango-Ota.
Omolola Odutola, the state Command’s Public Relations Officer, shared the news via WhatsApp on Monday, revealing that the arrests occurred on August 8, 2024.
The Sango-Ota area, including Ijoko, has recently been plagued by cult-related violence, including clashes, attacks, and killings.
A January report has said, the brutal deaths of two unidentified individuals in a suspected cult clash in Ota town.
Odutola explained that Adeola and Salami were apprehended after police received a tip-off about their gathering with other Eiye Confraternity members in Ijoko.

The Anti-Robbery Squad was promptly dispatched, leading to the capture of Salami and Adeola while others escaped.
Recovered from the scene were a toy silver pistol, locally made amulets, and suspected Indian hemp.
“When they spotted the squad, they scattered in different directions. Salami and Adeola were apprehended. During questioning, Adeola admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity,” Odutola stated.
“He revealed that he was initiated into the group in 2022 at Atan-Otan. We are intensifying efforts to apprehend the other members who are still at large.”
In May 2024, another suspected cult member, known only as Seun, was killed and beheaded in a cult clash in the Ijoko area.
Seun, a fuel attendant at a filling station in Alaroro, Ijoko, was reportedly killed in a reprisal attack.
