A video currently making rounds on social media has captured the moment some Police officers allegedly assaulted some Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials traveling back to Abuja after the just concluded Edo governorship election.

The incident happened on Monday September 21, 2020 along Auchi road in Edo state.

Ekohotblog learned that the police van was registered with the plate number, ‘NPF2529D’.

It was gathered that one of the INEC drivers had confronted the Police officers for hitting the car he was driving.

When other INEC officials came down to introduce themselves, they were assaulted.

Meanwhile, one of the INEC officials who video recorded the incident as evidence against the Police officers was allegedly struck on the head and ribs with a gun.

The electoral officers noted that they have hospitalized some of their injured men.

The case has been reported to the police public complaint unit and an investigation has been launched.
