Police Officers Returning From Edo Election Die In Kano
Five police officers who were providing security during the Edo State governorship election have tragically lost their lives in a road accident.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday along the Zaria-Kano Road near Karfi Village by the Trailer Park.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the crash involved two vehicles: a trailer and a Toyota Hummer Bus with the registration number 14B101KN, belonging to Kanoline. At approximately 01:15 hours, the accident involved a total of 15 individuals. Sadly, five lives were lost, and ten people sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The victims were identified as members of the Nigeria Police Force returning from a special assignment in Edo State, where they had been deployed for election monitoring.

Preliminary investigations by the FRSC indicated that the crash was primarily caused by excessive speeding, which led the driver of the Hummer bus to lose control and collide with a parked trailer.
Recall the Edo governorship election was conducted on Saturday, 21 September.
