EKO HOT BLOG reports that these claims surfaced after videos of the interaction between the corps members and the officers went viral on social media late Friday.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred in the Surulere area of Lagos.
Social media user Oluyemi Fasipe, who shared the footage, alleged that the officers threatened the corps members with firearms and subsequently detained them at the Kafaru Oluwole Tinubu House Area C Police Command.
Fasipe stated, “Dear @BenHundeyin, Your officers today in Surulere extorted 1 million naira from three corps members.
“They were threatened with firearms, kidnapped, and taken to the KAFARU OLUWOLE TINUBU HOUSE AREA C POLICE COMMAND of the @LagosPoliceNG where they were robbed.
“Their offence was the absence of a physical copy of a driver’s license. This is evil!”
In the videos, police officers were seen checking the documentation of the vehicle’s occupants, with the situation escalating as more officers arrived at the scene.
One officer was recorded entering the vehicle and instructing the corps members to stop filming and refrain from contacting anyone.
Responding to the allegations, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the officers involved have been summoned for investigation.
He stated on X, “The men have been summoned and their trial has commenced.
