Police Parade Eight IPOB Members, 103 Suspected Criminals In Delta

Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Hafiz Inuwa, yesterday, paraded no fewer than eight members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and 103 suspects for various crimes and involvement in the destruction of police and government property.

Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, Inuwa said the suspected IPOB members disguised as #EndSARS protesters to set the State High Court, government Recreation Park at Coker Junction, and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Office ablaze, Eko hot blog gathered.

He stated that the police were able to achieve the feat through thorough investigation, which led to their arrest following the #EndSARS protests.

The CP identified the IPOB members as, Igwe Tochukwu 18, Chidera Chukwu 20, Chukwuebuka Aweke 20, Chidoke Nwankuo 20, Obina Ebuka 20, Nwafor Joshua 20, Emmanuel Arigon 22 and the only female, Esther Chukwu 20.

He said a tricycle owned by one of them was used to convey used tyres and petrol at the scene to burn the High Court and other government property.

“Proactive and relative crime preventive mechanisms were used to arrest criminals and foil kidnappings, robberies, and other crimes in the state,” he said.

Inuwa explained that 27 armed robbery suspects, 25 suspected cultists, 12 kidnapping suspects, nine arson suspects, eight rape suspects, and 14 others who were arrested for unlawful possession of firearms.

The CP added that sophisticated and prohibited firearms and ammunition, as well as stolen vehicles from within and outside the state, were recovered from the suspects.

While assuring residents of safety, Inuwa disclosed that 142 AK47 rifles, 7.62mm ammunition, 487 live cartridges, three dynamites, and six pump action guns were also recovered.
