EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Police has arrested suspected cultists over the killing of two officers in Awka in December 2021.
As contained in a press release by the spokesperson of the Anambra police command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the cultists launched an attack on UNIZIK Vigilante operatives.

Following the attack on the vigilante operatives, the hoodlums were overpowered and arrested, while their leader was burnt alive. The vigilante operatives later handed over the arrested suspects to the police.
The command disclosed that it also recovered riffles carted away by the cultists during the incident.
The press release read in parts: “Recall that on 14th December 2021, cultists attacked the Chairman of Tricycle Owners Association in broad daylight near Unizik junction. Two Police Officers who were in the vicinity were killed and their weapons two AK 47 rifles carted away.
“On 26th February 2022, the same cult group attacked a funeral ceremony at Ebenebe in Awka North LGA killing several mourners.
“On Tuesday 15th March 2022 police succeeded in recovering a cache of weapons which included the two AK-47 rifles earlier stolen from the two Policemen murdered on 14th December 2021.
“The leader of the gang, one Uchenna Nwobu a.k.a Anali was killed while the other gang member was arrested.”
According to the command, investigation was ongoing to track down other members of the gang and establish the rightful owner of the recovered car.
