This warning was issued in a press statement by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, who highlighted the persistent misconduct among certain officers, undermining the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force.
EDITOR’S PICKS
Adejobi emphasized that despite numerous warnings and disciplinary actions against officers involved in such practices, some continue to use the IG’s office to carry out illegal activities, falsely claiming the IG’s approval. This manipulation often prevents victims from reporting these officers to higher authorities.
He urged the public to report any police misconduct to the appropriate superiors, including the Heads of the Complaint Response Units (CRU) in each state or the Commissioner of Police. Contact information for the CRU and other senior officers has been previously shared.
In addition, Adejobi advised the public to be cautious when approached by officers or individuals claiming to have connections with the IG or senior officials, as such claims may be used to influence or extort. He urged immediate reporting of any such incidents to the following contacts:
DCP Akin Fakorede, Head, IGP Monitoring Unit: 08184077076
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer: 08037168147
CSP Taiwo Oyewale, Head, IGP Special Investigation Unit: 08069318238
SP Sherriff Lawal, ADC to the IGP: 08094712605
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, urging the public to help uphold justice and fairness by reporting any suspicious activities.
