EKO HOT BLOG reports that dated August 28, 2024, the invitation comes from the Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja, and is signed by Commissioner of Police (OPS), CP Ibitoye Rufus Alajide.
The investigation focuses on allegations of “criminal intimidation, malicious damage to properties, and conduct likely to disrupt public peace,” adding to the escalating legal issues confronting the NLC leadership.
The document, reviewed by SaharaReporters, specifies that Ajaero and Ugboaja must appear for questioning with the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the Force Intelligence Department Complex in Abuja on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 a.m.
The letter urges cooperation and advises contacting a designated officer for further details upon arrival.
This new summons follows a previous one from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), which accused Ajaero of “criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.”
As the investigation progresses, the NLC’s leadership faces increasing scrutiny, raising concerns about the future of labor relations in Nigeria.
