Police Service Commission Appoints New DIG
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Ari Mohammed Ali as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for the North Central Geo-Police Zone.
This appointment was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement by the PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that DIG Ali replaces DIG Ade Ayuba, who recently retired from the Nigeria Police Force. Before this appointment, Ali was the AIG in charge of Zone 1 in Kano.
A native of Doma Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, he assumes this role to continue representing the North Central region, as his predecessor did.
The decision was made during an emergency management meeting of the commission, presided over by the PSC Chairman, retired DIG Hashimu Argungu. In his remarks, Argungu congratulated DIG Ali and urged him to prioritize professionalism and maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption in his new role.
“The new PSC is committed to building a professional and accountable Police Force that will serve as the pride of the Nigerian people,” Argungu said. “DIG Ali is expected to align with this vision and contribute to the ongoing transformation of the Force.”

Born on March 1, 1965, DIG Ali boasts an impressive academic and professional background.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Library and Political Science from the University of Maiduguri in 1987 and a Master’s degree in Industrial Relations from Delta State University, Abraka, in 2000.
Additionally, he holds a Diploma in Police Science from the British Home Department’s Police Staff College in Jos (2009) and a PhD in Industrial Relations from Irish University Business School, United Kingdom, in 2011.
Ali joined the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on March 3, 1990, after training at the Police Academy in Kaduna.
Over the years, he has served in various capacities across the Force, earning numerous awards for his contributions.
