Police Shoots Man’s Car In Wife, Children’s Presence Over Bribe

A video making the rounds on social media platform, Twitter, alleges an Officer of the Nigerian Police, shot at a man and his family for refusing to give bribe.

The video was posted by a user @ewejeoyewole, who called on #EndSars activist, Segalink, to interfere in the situation as he alleged that the police is trying to cover up the incident.

The twitter user, Oyewole, said the incident happened on July 26, 2020, and till this moment, the family is still trying to cope with the ordeal.

According to his narration, after the police officer shot at the car, the man’s wife, whose name was not disclosed, fainted from the trauma.

He wrote, “Dear Distinguish @segalink, please kindly see the video attached, a police officer as seen in the video shot a car, broke the glass of a car because they refuse to offer a bribe, despite seeing that it was a family man, with the wife and kids.

“Please kindly assist because the police station @PoliceNG @PoliceNG_CRU is doing everything possible to sweep this case under the carpet. The children are finding it hard to cope with what they saw yesterday, July 26, 2020.

“The wife fainted and still struggling as at the time I am writing this tweet. Kind-hearted Nigerians must ensure justice is served in this case.”

The video drew reactions from many users of twitter as they expressed their displeasure at the state of the current Nigeria Police, who are supposed to protect citizens but have now become the tormentor.

Meanwhile, @ewejeoyewole later gave an update on the situation, saying the Police complaint unit reached out to him. Still, he would no longer pursue the case as the man involved in the incident claims the police reached out with an apology and a decision to pay for damages.
