Police To Lift The Lid On The Death Of Nigerian-US Based Businessman

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 62-year-old businessman Onyejekwe Izuchukwu.

Report has it that Izuchukwu’s was discovered in a hotel room in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

According to sources, Izuchukwu, who was based in Texas, USA, had returned to Nigeria for business purposes and had been staying at the hotel since June 6.

A cleaner discovered his motionless body on the floor of his room on June 9 around 7 pm and alerted the hotel management, who then reported the incident to the police.

A source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that despite initial suspicions, a doctor was called to the scene to confirm Izuchukwu’s death.

The source stated, “He was a customer who lodged in the hotel on June 6, 2024, and was found dead in his hotel room on June 9, 2024, around 7 pm by a cleaner in the hotel… It was the Assistant Chief Security Officer of the hotel located in Ikoyi who reported that Onyejekwe Izuchukwu, 62, was found dead on the floor of the room he lodged to the police.”

Izuchukwu had an impressive career, having served as the President of Bits and Drilling Tools, a division of Schlumberger, where he developed innovative drilling technologies for the oil and gas industry.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated, “Izuchukwu was found lifeless on the floor of the hotel room.

“A doctor confirmed him dead, and his corpse has been deposited in a morgue in Ikeja for autopsy. The command has commenced an investigation into the case.”

The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of Izuchukwu’s death.
