Police, Vigilante Killed As Gunmen Attack Sokoto

Gunmen reportedly killed a policeman and a vigilante during a patrol in Sokoto State. The attack occurred around 3 a.m. on Monday at Kwanan Milgoma along the Sokoto-Bodinga road.

While the Sokoto Police Command spokesperson was unavailable for comment, a senior police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident.

“The gunmen met the operatives at a checkpoint along Sokoto-Bodinga road and opened fire on them. They killed one policeman and a vigilante and went away with two AK-47 rifles.

“Their bodies were deposited at the mortuary of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital,” he said.

He stated that the operatives were taken by surprise when the assailants, arriving in a white Hilux, launched their attack.
