‘Popular General Overseer’ Charged For Violating COVID-19 Lockdown

Lagos State Government has charged the General Overseer of Resurrection Praise Ministries for Africa alias Jehovah Sharp Sharp, Archbishop Samson Benjamin with lockdown violation.

According to reports, Benjamin was arraigned before Magistrate Yewande Oshin of Court 1, Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos Island.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

Ekohotblog understands that the cleric was arrested by the police on Tuesday.

Recall the Lagos State Government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu after a consultative meeting with religious groups banned any religious gathering that involves more than 50 people following the outbreak of pandemic coronavirus in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, this online news platform reports as at the time of filing this report, Nigeria’s total confirmed cases of coronavirus have risen to seven hundred and eighty-two (782) with one hundred and ninety-seven (197) people discharged and twenty-five (25 ) deaths recorded so far.
