Ekohotblog reports that popular Nigerian Pastor Tunde Bakare, the founder of Citadel Global Community Church (previously known as Latter Rain Assembly), has stated that if God and Nigerians want him to, he will run for president in 2023.
This was revealed by the cleric during a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock on Friday.
Bakare was Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 general election on the Congress for Progressive Change platform (CPC).
When asked if he would run for president in 2023, Bakare told State House journalists that he would only do so if God and Nigerians wanted him to.
He added, “I’m a nation builder. If God wants me to do that, and the people of Nigeria will appreciate that, why not?
“I’m as free as anybody to do anything. I have pastored a church for 33 years, now we raise new leaders. I want to focus on nation-building.
“I have already communicated clearly, my future plans to Mr. President, and it stays between us.”
