The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has shut down flying operations in the Port Harcourt airport due to bush fire close to the runway.
FAAN disclosed this on Saturday through its General Manager, Corporate Affairs Unit, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu, in Lagos, adding that the shut down of the airport was temporary to ensure safety of persons using the airport.
The statement read in part “A joint team from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency is presently evaluating the situation.

“This is with a view to ensuring that the airside is cleared of smoke and restoration of normalcy at the airport.”
