FG has stated that the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail line will not be completed under Buhari’s tenure.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the federal government on Wednesday conceded that it can’t complete the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri eastern rail line before the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari ends in May 2023.
The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, gave the update while fielding questions from newsmen.
Sambo was questioned on what is causing the delay in the completion of the railway project as promised by the current administration when he gave the update.
According to him, the inability to secure foreign loans that will make 85 percent of the funds needed to execute the project is responsible for the non-completion of the work as promised to Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Minister of State, Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, has been turbaned with the traditional title of Sarkin Kudun Hausa in Daura, Katsina State.
The former Governor of Bayelsa State was turbanned by the Daura Emirate Council as an honour conferred on him by the Emir of Daura, HRH Umar Farouk Umar.
Daura is President Muhammadu Buhari’s native town. Confirming Sylva’s new title, Buhari, through his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said the title is in recognition of Sylva’s “versatile and cross-cultural experiences, schooling, working and sharing wisdom in various parts of the country, ” the world.”
