A train derailed on Friday, close to Coimbra in central Portugal, killing two people and injuring dozens, including nine severely injured, Portuguese SIC TV reported.
A total of 280 passengers were on the train bound for Porto when the crash, with a working machine occurred, a source from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) told SIC TV.

According to a local official, Mario Nunes, two dozen injured were sent to several local hospitals.
The rest of the people on the train were being taken to a municipal centre where they would have psychological and medical support after being attended at a small field hospital.
Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa lamented the “serious railway accident” this afternoon.
“Heartfelt condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims and I wish the numerous injured people a speedy recovery.
“Awaiting the results of the technical and judicial investigations,’’ the president said in a statement.
