EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ineos chemicals group, has indicated an interest in buying Manchester United from the Glazers.
Ratcliffe wants to buy a stake in the club, with a view to taking full control if the Glazers welcome new investment, talkSPORT reports.
A spokesman for the Ineos billionaire confirmed that Ratcliffe would welcome the chance to talk to the club’s American owners.
“If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer,” the spokesman said.
Recalls that the Glazer family on Wednesday opened up to selling Manchester United.
The infamous Red Devils owners would consider selling a minority stake in the club as the pressure continues to mount, claim American outlet, Bloomberg.
The report adds that the Glazers have held some preliminary discussions about the possibility of bringing in a new investor.
But they are not willing to cede control of United, which could be valued at about £5 billion.
