Eko Hot Blog reports that no fewer than 18 communities in Edo, Oyo and Bayelsa states are experiencing power outages caused by technical issues.
The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) informed customers in 11 Edo communities that the outage was due to damage to critical infrastructure.
BEDC said its technical team was working to repair the damage and restore supplies.
“This is to inform our valued customers at Upper Lawani, Costain, Universal, New Benin, Okhoro, Owoseni, Akugbe, Mission Road, Uteh community, Edokpolor, Eweka and environs, that the outage currently being experienced is as a result of damage to critical power infrastructure servicing these areas,” the statement read.
Also, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company notified customers in 7 Oyo communities of an outage due to a technical fault.
Additionally, Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company announced there will be an interruption in Bayelsa to replace a faulty circuit breaker at the Yenagoa 132KV Transmission Station.
The companies apologized for the inconvenience caused by the outages. The disruptions add to existing power supply issues stemming from gas supply shortages.
