EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ladoja made the call while receiving former Governors Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Gbenga Daniel (Ogun), and Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo) at his Bodija residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The former governor of Oyo State said he had been overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, business leaders, and philanthropists, who have visited him in recent weeks to pay homage following his nomination.
“You should all pray for me because I’m overwhelmed by the number of dignitaries who have been coming to pay homage from across Nigeria,” he said. “I want people to pray for me so that I can justify the confidence reposed in me and do good for our people.”
Oba Ladoja emphasised that his reign would focus on preserving tradition while also working to unite the Yoruba people. He said unity among traditional rulers and politicians was critical for the progress of Yorubaland.
“Our focus when I ascend the throne should be how to unite the Yoruba people, starting from traditional rulers and then the politicians. Once elections are over, struggles should be over. People should join hands together for the development of Yorubaland. Once elections are over, contest should end and governance should begin,” he stated.

Ladoja was formally nominated as the next Olubadan following the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025.
